Monday, July 20, 2009
New York, NY –
The next phase of the Coney Island redevelopment plan has been postponed for another day. Two City Council committees were scheduled to vote on revisions to the plan today but the meeting was recessed until tomorrow. Councilman Domenic Recchia represents Coney Island. He wants the Bloomberg administration to increase funding for the Coney Island hospital and make sure the rezoning provides well-paying jobs for community residents.
RECCHIA: I will kill this plan, if my constituents are not taken care of.
Mayor Bloomberg says his staff is working with City Council members on plans for Coney Island and expects to come to a resolution soon.
