A Sotomayor Diary

Friday, July 17, 2009

Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor captured the attention of millions of Americans during her confirmation hearings this week. some more so than others:

Twenty year old Zila Acosta comes from a part-Puerto Rican, part-Dominican family. Her mother is a school principal, and her father is a judge. Acosta is a student at Columbia University, but she also works for a political consulting group run by two prominent Puerto Ricans. So she thought a lot this week about how a person's background has an impact on what they do.

Her story was prduced by WNYC's Marianne McCune.
