Friday, July 10, 2009
New York, NY –
State Senator Pedro Espada says he's back with the Democrats again, after crossing over to the Republican conference in what led to a month-long stalemate in Albany.
REPORTER: But some residents of his overwhelmingly Democratic district in the Bronx Members aren't ready to forgive and forget.
Lamar Simpson says he worked for Espada as a mail clerk in 2002.
SIMPSON: I felt the need to do it because I was like hey I'm living here in the Bronx, here is a Spanish guy trying to do something for the community. Now that I went all out for him, I feel like I've been dumped!
REPORTER: Espada has claimed he sided with the Republicans to try to get reforms passed, and that he now believes Democrats are committed to making the Senate more fair.
