Stimulus Aside: Paterson Still Pushing for Cuts

Even though New York State is getting $24.6 billion in federal stimulus money over the next two years, Governor Paterson maintains his budget cuts and tax increases are still necessary.
Albany's powerful labor unions disagree. They're running an ad campaign saying the stimulus package should stave off cuts.
Paterson addressed his critics in a speech at the annual gala dinner of the state legislature’s Black and Puerto Rican Caucus this weekend.
PATERSON: I don't care how many commercials you all pay for, I don't care how many points you all make me lose in the poles and I don't care how many blind people you role out in wheel chairs. I am going to get this budget balanced, and I'm going to get it balanced by April 1st.
REPORTER: One ad opposing hospital cuts proposed by Paterson, who is legally blind, features a blind patient in a wheelchair.
