New York, NY –
Last summer, a woman’s death in a public hospital in Brooklyn was captured on videotape, and it showed her being ignored by hospital staff for nearly 24 hours, even after she collapsed and was lying face down on the floor. The footage was widely distributed and helped lead to broad reforms at the psychiatric ward of Kings County Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in the country. But a new U.S. Justice Department report alleges incidents of violence and sexual assault continue at an alarming pace. WNYC’s Fred Mogul joins us now to discuss the investigation.
