Joe Ades, "Gentleman Peeler," Dead at 75

Joe Ades, a familiar fixture at the Union Square Green Market where he sold Swiss vegetable peelers for $5 a pop, died Sunday. He was 75. A quick search on Flickr gives one an idea of his ubiquity.
The Peeler Man, Joe Ades, died Sunday after decades spent selling his $5 vegetable peelers at the Union Square Greenmarket, and other locations around New York.
