Monday, April 27, 2009
New York, NY –
The number of swine flu cases here has increased, and more are expected to emerge. Mayor Bloomberg says the total number of people with swine flu has risen, from eight to 20.
Bloomberg says 17 more cases are suspected. All those confirmed and probable cases are among students at a private school in Queens.
BLOOMBERG: There's an important number here for NYers to keep in mind and that number is one. We have one reported cluster of swine flu, at one school -- Saint Francis Prep in Fresh Meadows, Queens.
REPORTER: He says there's no reason for anyone outside of that high school's community to stay home. He says that nearly all of the St. Francis students are improving and that he knows of none who are getting worse.
The mayor also says there's no reason for visitors to avoid New York City.
