Metropolitan Museum of Art Picks New Leader

Thomas Campbell, Tapestry Expert, to Succeed Phillipe de Montebello

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

It was one of the most closely watched job searches in the art world -- but the choice has been made. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has chosen Thomas Campbell to be its new Director and CEO.

Campbell currently serves as the Met's Curator of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts. He's best known for putting together blockbuster exhibitions of European tapestries.

Lee Rosenbaum is a regular cultural contributor to WNYC and she joins Richard Hake to discuss the decision.
