Schumer Calls For Food Aid

While it's Thanksgiving, not everyone is feasting today. Local food banks say they ran low on provisions this week. As the economy continues to sink, more people are requesting help and fewer are making donations.
REPORTER: Senator Charles Schumer says the stimulus package Congress is drafting should address rising hunger and offer assistance to food banks.
He says he'll push the Obama administration to include 50 million dollars of emergency food assistance in the stimulus package. But, it's still going to be a hard holiday season.
SCHUMER: More than two out of three of our food pantries, when people come here, they don't have enough food for them. And that shouldn't happen at any time, but particularly at Thanksgiving.
REPORTER: The New York Coalition Against Hunger says the number of people relying on food pantry donations is up 28 percent from last year.
