McCain Visits Jersey City

Arizona Sen. John McCain paid a visit to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City today.
The presumptive Republican Presidential nominee wanted global warming to be the main topic but reporters wanted to know if he had voted for President Bush in 2OOO. WNYC's Bob Hennelly reports.
McCain was in the heart of New Jersey's most legendary Democratic stronghold -- perhaps to show that he can put the left-leaning state in play. Both former Gov. Tom Kean and Sen. Joe Lieberman invoked the name of Republican President and conservationist Theodore Roosevelt in their introductions.
McCain touted his early support of anti-global warming legislation and pledged to make reaching consensus on the topic a top priority. But all the press wanted to follow up on were published reports that Senator McCain told a Hollywood gathering in 2OOO that he did not vote for the current President.
McCain refuted the story, saying he had been a frenetic campaigner for President Bush.
