Soterios Johnson
Before you ask... it's Greek. And, so is Johnson (via translation). It's a long story... Soterios Johnson seemed strangely drawn to the news, even as a young child.
New York, NY –
With the first day of spring behind us, New Yorkers are looking ahead to sunny days filled with baseball games, picnics in Central Park and hot dogs at Coney Island.
But don't lose those images of wood-burning fires and flannel blankets just yet. New York is currently in the peak of its maple syrup-making season. It's a tradition specific to this side of North America. Tree sap is harvested from maples - way into northern Quebec and as far west as Wisconsin.
Joining us now is Andy VanGlad of Wood Homestead Maple Syrup in Stamford, New York.
Maple Weekend begins tomorrow, when hundreds of New York's maple producers - including Andy - open their doors to the public. For more information, go to www.mapleweekend.com.
