Boot-stomping poet Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz holds a record as one of the youngest poets to become a slammaster in 1998 at the age of 19, later winning the National Poetry Slam competition twice. The same year she entered the slam competitions, she began the Bowery Poetry Club’s NYC-Urbana Reading Series. Cristin lives in New York City with her boyfriend, the poet Shappy. In 2007 she published her fourth book of poetry, Oh Terrible Youth, and Words In Your Face, a non-fiction book about the oral history of the slam movement.
