TKTS booth opens in Brooklyn

Thursday, July 10, 2008

New Yorkers no longer need to head into Manhattan to get cheap, day-of tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. A new TKTS booth opened today at MetroTech in Downtown Brooklyn.

HONG: I’m going to get tickets to Hairspary, hopefully. And now I can come to downtown Brooklyn and get tickets. I’m going to buy one ticket to Xanadu. Well, I live in Manhattan, but I’m closer to Brooklyn than Midtown or Downtown. It’s good. I just work right here so I can just come anytime. I usually just buy them before and it’s expensive compared to buying on the day-of.

REPORTER: That was Jerry Hong from Brooklyn, Chelsea Draper from Manhattan and Eddie Tabile from Queens, some of the first New Yorkers to purchase tickets at the new window. Other TKTS booths are in Times Square and at the South Street Seaport.
