Yankees Stadium Parking

New York, NY –
Mayor Bloomberg thinks 600 free parking spaces for the Yankees at their new stadium may be excessive... but he appears confident that the new amount of VIP parking won't eat into the city's income from the garages.
BLOOMBERG: I suppose some argument for handful of free parking spaces. That does sound like a large number, but I'm not familiar with actual details.
REPOTER: In 2005, the mayor guaranteed the city would get at least 3.2 million dollars in rent from the parking lots. But a Daily News analysis of a 237 million dollar tax exempt bond issue for the parking lots found the new garages will not generate enough money to provide full rent and taxes to the city until 2014. The Yankees say they're not involved with the garages.
