Minister's Concerns with Rick Warren

Friday, December 19, 2008

The new senior minister of New York's historic Riverside Church Brad Braxton is taking issue with president-elect Obama's selection of Rick Warren to lead the inauguration's invocation.

On WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show, Braxton says disagrees with Warren's position against gay marriage. He says Obama should be taking a balanced spiritual perspective.

BRAXTON: That will be symbolized by people around you who represent genuine diversity concerning spiritual principles such as the inclusion of gay and lesbian persons fully into the life of our country.

REPORTER: Braxton says he practices a progressive Christianity, which preaches social justice.
