Security officials from New York City hotels were briefed by NYPD intelligence officers working in Mumbai, India.
Via teleconference, they discussed how 10 gunmen were able to infiltrate so-called "soft targets" like hotels, a hospital and a train station with A-K 47s.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says heading off a situation like that in New York requires intelligence AND sufficient fire power.
KELLY: We have heavy weapons deployed throughout the City. All of our heavy weapons officers, emergency service officers are specially trained. They go to heavy weapons training on a regular basis.
REPORTER: The NYPD also conducted a Mumbai training simulation at Floyd Bennett Field this afternoon.
And it plans to work with hotels and hospitals in the city to help them incorporate lessons learned from Mumbai into their security operations.
