Local Republicans React to Dems in Denver

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Local Democrats aren't the only ones following the Convention in Denver. Several New York State delegates to next week's Republican Convention say they're tuning in -- to see what the competitions up to, and get a sense of what they can expect next week in the Twin Cities.

Manhattan attorney Richard Farren says he's impressed with some of what he's seeing in Denver.

FARREN: Bill Clinton gave an absolutely brilliant speech. Unfortunately, when he says Obama is ready, it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is. He’s never been an executive. He hasn't been tested, and it's hard to say. I think he's a pig in a poke.

REPORTER: Other Republican delegates are giving Democrats high marks for pageantry, even though they disagree about who's the better candidate.

Hattie Ray of Brooklyn says she's not totally sold on McCain yet, and is going to the Twin Cities to see for herself whether he can convince her.
