The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is launching a new campaign to encouraging subway riders to report incidents of groping. Two thousand posters will go up in stations around the city.

They read quote "Sexual Harassment is a crime in the subway too - a crowded train is no excuse for an improper touch. Don't stand for it or feel ashamed, or be afraid to speak up."

NYC Transit spokesman Paul Flueranges says they considered concerns over whether the ads might provoke lewd behavior, but they ultimately decided that putting out the message that it would not be tolerated was important.

FLUERANGES: We think the poster sets the right tone and it provides our female customers with that information which is mainly that they shouldn't tolerate such criminal behavior and that they should report it.

REPORTER: In a poll conducted by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer's officer last year, 63 percent of respondents said they experienced sexual harassment on the subway.
