Robert Frost

American Poet

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Frost began writing poetry while still a schoolboy in New England, where he stayed for college and most of his life. He published his first poem, "Butterfly" in 1894 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for poetry four times. In the recordings below, Frost is honored at a dinner by the Poetry Society of America in 1958. He shares his thoughts on the use of meter and rhyme, and reads a few selections.
