Hagan’s writing appears in a variety of journals and anthologies, including La Petite Zine, Monologues for Women by Women and Underwired Magazine. She has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and is a winner of the Carnegie Center’s 2007 Next Great Writers Competition. When she isn’t in Kentucky serving as Chair of the writing department in the Governor’s School for the Arts, Hagan teaches writing at Adelphi University, and in the Bronx as Coordinator of the Dream Yard Project. Hagan also appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam and often recites at the Nuyorican Poets Café in New York City. Because of her work with the the women’s writing collective girlstory, Hagan also boldly carries the title Vagina Warrior, as dubbed by Adelphi University. Her most recent endeavor is the one-woman show, America WHAT, which she performed in March at the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival.
