He’s been called the "Andy Warhol of Japan": Takashi Murakami is a contemporary Japanese artist who blurs the lines between fine art and pop culture. He draws on Japanese comics and animation to make everything from 30-foot sculptures to murals to commercial goods. He’s even created the cover art for records by the rap star Kanye West. Tomorrow, a major exhibition of his work opens at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and art critic Lee Rosenbaum got a preview of the show.
