Central Park Boathouse Audited
Thursday, March 29, 2007
New York, NY –
The Central Park Boathouse calls itself a "famous icon of New York City" but may now be known more for its shoddy accounting, then for its food or park views. According to an audit released yesterday, the Boathouse owes the city hundreds of thousand dollars and has failed to report $2 million of income.
The Boathouse includes a restaurant, outdoor bar, bike and boat rentals. The City Comptroller's office cited mismanagement by the Parks Department as contributing to the restaurant's faulty accounting.
The restaurant's owner denies any wrongdoing and calls the allegations outrageous.
