School Spending Criticized

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

The reorganization of the city's public schools saved only 60% of what the Bloomberg administration claimed, according to City Comptroller Bill Thompson. He cited the statistics in a speech at Fordham University yesterday that was critical of the mayor and the chancellor's management.

A spokesperson for Klein says the city's Independent Budget Office confirmed the agency had cut at least $221 million in administrative spending, which was redirected into teaching and learning initiatives.
