NYC Hosts Vocab Contest

Fifty students from around the US competed in a vocabulary championship that transformed part of the city's main library into the site of a live game show. Contestants were tested on their knowledge of words and how fast they could ring their buzzers.
REPORTER: 18-year-old Daniel Fader of Westchester says his speed came naturally.
FADER: It’s more about the speed and the confidence, than actually knowing the words and I knew that was something I might have as an edge I might have over the other competitors - I think I was just born with it but video games are one hobby that those attributes help me with.
REPORTER: Robert Marsland from Wisconsin went home with the first place prize, a $40,000 college scholarship. A student from Stuyvesant High School placed 5th. The competition will be broadcast next month on the Game Show Network.
