New York, NY –
Wall Street is receiving recognition for its role in history. A 36-block area is now on the federal government's National Register of Historic Places.
REPORTER: At Federal Hall, the site of President George Washington's inauguration in 1789 Congressman Charles Rangel says the designation will help people recognize that Wall Street is more than the stock market.
RANGEL: We just cannot do enough to make certain that we maintain the history so that we can share it with those that are just visiting our town.
REPORTER: His historic designation will allow landlords to receive tax credits if they renovate their buildings while preserving their architectural integrity.
