Anime Fans Descend on New York

Fans of Japanese animation flocked to the Javits Center this weekend for the New York Anime Festival. One of the main draws was Peter Fernandez, the voice of characters Speed Racer and Racer X.
REPORTER: Fernandez lives in the New York-area and can still be heard plying his trade.
FERNANDEZ: Twice a month, I do the commercials on radio for a chain of supermarkets called Bravo, telling what's going to be the special this weekend. So, you know, I'm saying things like "And starting Sunday - Perdu chicken, only 69 cents a pound!
REPORTER: At the festival, Fernandez was joined by Corinne Orr, the voice of Trixie in the series. Speed Racer was made in the late 60s and was one of the first anime programs to gain a following in the US.
