LIRR Changes Routes for Evening Commute

Wednesday, August 08, 2007

The Long Island Rail Road says commuters who usually use the Queens Boulevard subway lines can use their trains to get home tonight. The service will cancel and combine some trains to make stops at Penn Station, Woodside, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Jamaica. While the Queens service is in place, some Long Island trains won't make local stops at Woodside, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens. Additional NYC Transit and LIRR personnel will be assigned to answer questions at Penn Station.

Customers can also expect numerous track changes as well as delays. They are advised not to go to their usual platforms until their train has been posted. MTA Police will regulate the flow of customers, but expect crowding. If possible, stagger work hours to avoid travel at peak times.
