Bloomberg's Campaign Spending Broke Records
Friday, January 13, 2006
New York, NY –
Mayor Bloomberg spent a little over $84 million on his re-election campaign. That's according to documents being filed with the city campaign finance board. Government watchdogs say that's a record for any office, other than that of president of the united states.
The spending, all of it Bloomberg's own money, includes almost $32 million for television ads and $14 million for consultants. It is more than ten times what Democratic challenger Fernando Ferrer spent.
