Commentary: Stolen Prison Painting Highlights Changes

In 1965 Salvador Dali donated a painting of Christ on the cross to the New York City Department of Corrections. Since then, the painting has been hanging around Riker's Island. Until last week, that is, when someone stole it. The disappearance of the Dali has commentator and public defender David Feige thinking about how attitudes toward incarceration have changed.
