CAROLINE BARRY (Lightweight 132lb/60kg)
Lives in: Boulder, CO
Age: 31
Age started boxing: 21
Record: Two time Golden Gloves Champion, two-time PAL champion, four time USA National Champion

Caroline Barry, who goes by Carrie, has been outspoken about women’s right to box, filing grievances against USA Boxing to secure equal rights with the men’s team.

Today, she’s a boxer in the US Army World Class Athlete Program. Barry is traveling to London with the team, but not to fight. An injury put a stop to that.

When Barry started boxing, it was a fitness trend for women and the gyms were filled with the after work crowd. Today, the ring is filled with young women who fit a different stereotype -- women who first learned to fight on the streets, and they aren’t always used to the rigors of training or following a coach’s order. Listen above to Barry tell where she fits in.
