Gov. Chris Christie has signed New Jersey's tough anti-bullying legislation into law.
The law was briefly set aside earlier this year after one small school district complained about the cost of training and materials. A local mandates council agreed the law created a financial burden.
But lawmakers and the governor reached a deal this month for the state to provide $1 million in funding. The money will be awarded as reimbursement grants that districts can apply for after they use up free training materials available online.
Lawmakers sped the law's passage in 2010 after the high-profile suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, whose roommate used a webcam to spy on Clementi's intimate encounter with another man. The 18-year-old later jumped off the George Washington Bridge.
