When you think of Flatbush, Brooklyn, you might not necessarily think of greenery, flowers and groomed tree pits. But a group of ladies on E. 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D think otherwise.
"You know, people always consider Brooklyn to be dry concrete," says gardener Grace Henry. "But you could create a haven right here in Brooklyn. Even if you don't have that much space...even on a step."

amazingly this captured my feeling of growing up in a large 'inner' city of a few million....with out much intent it was intergenerational, cross cultural, warm and embracing and by proxy a safe environment.
You really captured the essence of why community gardening is so important, what it can do for a neighborhood and why we love Brooklyn!!!
