I listened to most of Mr. Romney's acceptance speech tonight, & I found it to be mostly blind, jingoist rhetoric, & dreams. His vision of the American future harkens back to a world that existed in the 1950's, as though America can & should pursue its glorious destiny powered by oil, unimpeded in a free market economy.
And as for those 12 million "new" jobs...(?)
I don't believe America wants to support a "new" major WAR effort.
I don't understand why interviewers and commentators have not commented on the sleight of hand Ryan used in purporting to "answer" questions about his response to Akin's "legitimate rape" remarks. Ryan did not say he agreed or disagreed with either Akin's or Romney's positions on rape, nor was he pressed as to his previous public and anecdotal record of shared thinking with Akin's logic. By further stating only that the president was the one who set policy, he was allowed to pose as agreeing with Romney's position. But why has he not been called on the alternative implication: whoever is president sets the policy, so when Romney is president his thinking will prevail - and if inherit his office during any 4-year term he wins, I will implement my thinking as policy.
