David Fischer, an RNC delegate from Iowa supporting Ron Paul, has been a lifelong Republican. Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2008 – and its call for less government intrusion in Americans’ lives – inspired him to ratchet up his activism in party politics.
He’s among the Iowa delegates upset by the national Republicans’ treatment of Paul supporters at the convention.
"It all boils down to freedom. Freedom is the message that brings all these people together from such a wide diversity of lifestyles and opinions. And that’s really the bottom line of what we’re about and that’s what unites us. We don’t have to agree on everything. We should be able to mind our own business, we should be respectful of one another, and then we can identify some things that we have in common that we can build some relationships on.”
