Are Democrats Really Not Supporting Obama's Jobs Plan?
Friday, September 16, 2011
On the Brian Lehrer Show today at 10am. Audio and a recap will be posted by 1pm today.
Jennifer Steinhauer, New York Times congressional correspondent, discusses why some Congressional Democrats are picking apart the Obama jobs bill, and whether that may actually affect the bill's chances for passage.

Taxes should be proportionally raised on all citizens excepted those below the poverty line and those unemployed, while unemployed. Corporations too (remember they are "people" too). I'll pay my share.
It's the only real way
@MartinC - I hope they blame it on the cause. States with GOP governors laying off state workers. States led by Democratic governors are running a collective employment rate .5% BELOW the national average. You do the math.
The GOP is trying to retake the White House by obstructing and misrepresenting everything. I would never vote for any GOP candidate because they are so dishonest and always put party over country. It would be madness to elect a GOP President and expect them to govern any better than George Bush did.
Congressional Democrats are idiots and are showing how much they are in the pockets of the oil companies and special interest....just like the Republicans.
.....and by the way, the media ignored the Labor Department numbers released Wednesday that jobless claims increased yet again for the 4th straight week to 428,000. (They were too busy trashing Michelle Bachmann.) What will Obama blame it on now.....there were no hurricanes, tsunamis, snowstorms or sunspot acivity last week?
Martin and his bizarre rants again.
Republicans, Martin, and every one at Fox said for months - Gov't stimuli don't work, just extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and walla - jobs would practically fall from the sky. Obama caved in and did so. Where are the jobs?
The fact is however - Obama seems to have given up on this term of his Presidency - Shame
Steinhauer’s story yesterday danced around and carefully avoided saying the inconvenient truth about Stimulus One ($880B) and Stimulus Two (QE 2 $600B)...they didn’t work and even (!) Democrat politicians privately recognize it. Though some don’t (as she deliciously captured the insanity of “progressive” caucus members like Rep. Defazio, “his voice rising to a near shriek”…LOL), many are balking at more spending and national debt for a wasteful boondoggle that is zero for two so far.
Obama is on a political campaign tour disguised as a promotional trip for Stimulus Three ($447B) which, in “lipstick on a pig” parlance, the fawning mainstream media has been obediently calling a jobs bill……..as if he would know what a real non-government funded job looks like.
She perfectly captures the lack of logic behind The One’s whole presidency in printing his ridiculous “barnstorming” quote, “If you love me, you’ve got to help me pass this bill.” Not because it is economically sound, not because it will finally turn the economy around and not because it will create real, sustained jobs………..but because we are supposed to be in starry-eyed love with this celebrity rock star. And love, as Obama and all of us know, sometimes induces you to do things that are against your own self-interest and safety.
Pathetic…..and by the way….his party hasn’t even produced an actual bill yet that the Republicans can legitimately bury….much to Democratic Senator Manchin’s relief.
