Back to your cave!!
Resign. One of the reasons our country is in the shape it is because these men "in power' only think their power originates their pants. Time to grow up. A liar is a liar.
Oh, hum!
Just another expose' of the evolving morays of the good old US. Politicians cannot seem to keep their tongues in their mouths nor parts in their pants. Temptations are there for every man/woman. Just seems that those in positions of responsibilty and as public figures, might take pause to reflect on their place in the scope of things, might step up to the plate and occasionly present the best example they can provide.
Would be uplifting, no?
9.5% Unemployment and we are talking about Weiner's behavior????
Let's get our priorities in order.
I was disappointed that WNYC gave so much prominence and time to this story. I would have rather heard about New Jersey's governor Christie and his plan to reduce the number of people on medicaid to save money. It is clear that this will cause suffering and deaths. Nobody died when Weiner lied.
The biggest hypocrisy isn't Weiner, isn't Breitbart, isn't even the political hacks and plants that swarm blogs like this in order to stack the deck against someone whose biggest sin has been to call out those whose interests are diametrically opposed to those of Democracy in favor of an America run by a corporate oligarchy, it's anyone who thinks that Weiner's behavior is IN THE LEAST aberrant --at least for Men-- because if any of the ranters would stop for even a moment and look that moron in the mirror in the eye they'd cop to the fact that they know SEVERAL if not MANY people for whom the only way they've found a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/significant other/partner/F-buddy has been by posting images and chatter at least as "seamy" if not moreso than Weiner has and they're perfectly happy to have done so and continue to do so even AFTER landing that partner-whatever, because, simply put, THAT'S THE WAY WE'VE LET THE WORLD WORK THESE DAYS, and in no way have his peccadillos (which, unlike several of his Republican colleagues, haven't involved illegal interactions with the under-aged) adversely affected the job he's done for his constituents or for his country. That's the boring punchline to this story, but no media outlet--not even WNYC-- seems to be able to acknowledge that when there's fresh roadkill on the political highway to tear some raw flesh from.
Anthony Weiner should step down immediately. He has tarnished the office and betrayed his supporters and political party, my political party. If he wants to serve his constituents, his country and principles he can do so in other roles. Elected office is only temp work anyway but of the kind that demands discipline and responsibility.
Here comes the congressional mountain to bury Weiner in his molehill. The people of his district are the ones who should decide whether he should go, not congressional Dems or Repubs. He shouldn't have lied but they should all just shut up and let the people handle it.
Shame on WNYC - This story does not deserve the airtime. Anthony Weiner speaks truth to power and was under a microscope for a long time. It was just a matter of time before they found something. His speeches on the house floor make Republican corporate hacks spastic. He nails them on health care, taxes and other issues that are of substance. I expect Fox to be making something out of nothing - not WNYC.
The only thing more tedious than Weiner's sexcapades is your reporting on it. Buck up! You do not have to feel icky to make a dollar.
Gee! It turns out that, unlike the rest of us, Tony Weiner's imperfect; unlike most of us, he's lied. So I guess I'll have to vote against him; never mind that he reflects almost perfectly the opinions and values of me and most of his constituents and expresses them well, sometimes brilliantly, never mind that his constituent services have been outstanding, and never mind that he regularly protects the interests of his south Brooklyn and Queens district.
I DON'T THINK SO!
I agree that the GOP's constant lies about whatever they decide "reality" should be, including perpetrating the idea that Obama was not born in the US, and their twisted spins on public health care option, ere far more insidious and destructive to our country's moral backbone than Weiner's attempt to cover up his dumb tweeting of his crotch-pix.
Let it go, media! What he's done challenging GOP lies esp. re. health care way trumps his bad-judgment-tweets.
Such self-righteousness!!! I have seen much more revealing and sexually explicit underwear ads in the NY Times that men, women and children see than I saw in these fotos Weiner sent to consenting females. What the hell do you think millions of people do on Facebook, Twitter and the myriad of dating services? They chat, flirt, tease and sometimes even send revealing fotos (gasp). Some even meet and have sex-something Weiner apparently did not do.
I do agree he was awfully stupid trying to lie his way out of this mess. When will these politicos learn that you cannot evade the truth-especially when garbage men like Breitbart are lurking in every sewer near your residence, searching through your feces for some imagined trace of human indiscretion?
Let the media go against the Republican liars who distort the truth about our new medical laws and who unabashedly protect the richest 1% and ignore the rest of the country. These are the people who should be punished-not people like Weiner who behaved like a child who was caught with his hands in the cookie jar. He paid a terrible price for his actions. Now let him protect his constituents from the forces of evil in Congress, as he has always tried to do.
It is a little over 24 hours since I saw Mr. Weiner announce to the world that he was a liar, and I am already sick to my stomach when I hear his name. Of course this will go on ad infinitum for week and weeks even if he decides that his situation is such that he must step down from public life. I live in Oakland Gardens, and am not a constituent of Mr. Weiner, but if I was, they would have to drag me kicking and screaming to the voting booth to cast my vote for him. I am originally from The Bronx, and as they said on my block growing up "stick a fork in him, he is done."
The rank stupidity of this man is profound. His last name says it all about him.
Regardless of whether Weiner is a man of no personal morality or whether he has psychological problems, he should not be entrusted with the people's work.
In either case, he shows himself incapable of fidelity (not even a year with his wife), a liar (and even sounded good) and unable to contain his desires.
That is the antithesis of a person who should be entrusted with the people's work...or their money. Here is hoping his constituents see it that way.
His political persuasion is not important here except for the fun of watching silly people insult each other over their differing political opinions and using his behavior as their excuse.
bottom line if he's a dem/lliberal/"progressive", all sins can be forgiven & let's get back to fomenting a class war
if he's a republican - everyone get on your high horse and hack away....
NY liberal phonies...lol
Fuva,
You're right in that you shouldn't be conflated with Breitbart. But Chillingworth, yes, you're singin' in Chillingworth's choir.
That said, I agree with your focus on high standards. I disagree that anyone's sex life has anything to do with real standards for behavior, and I concur with Bernie that your expectations of human sexuality are subjective and somewhat outdated. And although it pains me that Weiner lied, I also agree with Bernie that it's unreasonable expectations of human sexuality on the part of people such as yourself that actually insures we'll see more lying politicians.
Oh, eva, so now you're conflating me with Breibart? Lol.
I'ma let you and bernie (not that I'm conflating you two) have the last word here.
You're still short-sighted and enabling of inadequate standards, which will get us nowhere. But I have to get back to work.
I will almost always stand with Hester Prynne (Weiner); never with Roger Chillingworth (Breitbart, Fuva, etc.)
Fuva,
To be fair, you weren't merely connecting Wall Street fraudsters with Weiner, you were conflating them.
Let me then conflate Wall Street's economic violence with the violence perpetrated by an impoverished father (be he black, Chinese, whatever) who robs a liquor store at gunpoint to feed his children. Yes, it's a violent act, as well. But on such a minor level that it's not worth conflating (or as you say "connecting") the two.
Let's try to keep some perspective, Fuva. Weiner doesn't deserve the level of contempt that you've displayed for him.
are you kidding me? if he came out and told the truth he would be lambasted as much if not more than he is right now.
and my comments towards you are based on your statements. your words are what i know about you and you've clearly stated your opinion and i completely disagree.
you're all over the road- trying to compare bankers to weiner?
Hey, to connect is not to equate. Think about it.
And we simply would not be here if Weiner said he did it from the jump. He would not have lied to us, and he could have boldly, productively and properly advanced the prudish discussion: To the argument that it was a personal matter, prudes (which, by the way, I'm not) could have no valid response (so long as it was all legal).
It's when he adamantly lied to the public, that he made it a matter of public concern.
And Bernie, stop it. You don't know me...
Dear Stop Wasting the Nation's Time/Shame on NPR:
Thank you so much for what you wrote.
For Fuva or anyone else to conflate the monumental economic violence of Wall Street fraudsters with Weiner's lying about "sexting" is intellectually dishonest. It's also plain-old dishonest.
fuva-
you live in a very funny bubble.
look at anthony weiner's voting record. look at his congressional activity. he is a hard working representative for nyc. that is what matters. if politicians and all men for that matter were held up to your insane standards then 99% of all would be deemed reckless and without self-control in your opinion.
being "kinky" as you say, is a part of the human condition and is nothing to be ashamed of. maybe you should explore a bit....you might like it.
i suppose you think priests' vows of celibacy is rational too?
@Fuva from Harlemworld
You got it and you're right!
Between unacountable financiers and the consequent economic collapse, AND reckless, unaccountable politicians with no self-control, there is a connection.
Why so many of you apparently don't see it, I don't know.
America is facing record high unemployment, people are losing their
homes - often through illegal foreclosures, we are wasting American lives
and over 100 billion a year in Afghanistan, 10s of millions don't
have healthcare and many die because of it - and we are wasting time
discussing someone's flirtations on social media ? THAT is the obscenity.
A large majority of people who use social media, probably have flirted over
it. Many have sent pictures - often far more revealing and compromizing than
the pictures Rep Weiner sent - which could be seen on any beach or on videos on TV.
A large percentage of men and women even cheat on their marriages although
he did not.
The people who promote these harmful character assassinations to
distract the nation's needed attention should have THEIR lives carefully
scrutinized and subjected to the same public pillorying that they self-rightously
inflict on others. (And where is the culture of tollerance that is so
widely promoted for every other lifestyle - other than the expression of male
(heterosexual) sexuality)?
It is shocking that serious media like NPR and PBS allow themselves to
waste the nations' time with this prurient character assassination.
Noone has gone to jail yet for the banking collapse.
Noone has gone to jail yet for the illegal foreclosures that
kicked innocent people out of their homes.
We are being distracted - I wonder what the media manipulators are trying
to cover up ? What are we as American citizens supposed to NOT pay
attention to while we leer at an innocent public citizen having his
life destroyed over frivolous trivialities.
The issue is NOT whether someone flirted on-line or not - it is WHO
is wasting America's time with this drivel and WHY.
Shame on you NPR for sinking to this.
Bernie, exactly.
He intended to be stealth about it, because it's a private act. But he nevertheless conducted his business under his own name, to age-unknown lay women, in this hyper-connected, out-there-for-eternity world. Such stupidity and lack of self-control, my friend, calls his judgment into question.
And why not admit it? If pandering to prudishness is the problem, then why enable it? Telling it like it is would not only be the right/responsible thing to do, but also a step in the right direction not inconsistent with the bodacious persona he has worked so hard over the years to cultivate.
"recklessly he conducted his kinky acts"
ha! so he should've been more stealth about his kink and that would be ok with you?
do you even know what kinky means? you think sending a naked picture is deviant behavior? if so, you are so naive.
do you know any men?
I agree with Bernie. Men are into all sorts of "esoteric" (and tiresome) sexual behavior these days - to the extent that Congressman Weiner's twitter escapade looks as innocent as a Mickey Rooney movie.
Welcome to America in the age of Viagra and ubiquitous internet porn. Sorry, but that's the reality.
...And how extremely recklessly he conducted his kinky acts.
Again- he had to lie. he had no other choice. could he just come out and speak the truth and expect prudish, irrational people like yourself and the gossip media aka journalists to just react appropriately?
no, the climate is to blame not the lying and certainly not anything he did before it.
Again: The transgression is the straight-faced lie.
@fuva-
"penalties when their transgressions come to light"? for what? and how is it your business to make that declaration. this is none of your business or mine. he's done nothing wrong he had to lie BECAUSE of people like you.
you have no right to be on that high horse. "those without sin throw the first stone" , right? are you without sin?
Stop getting it twisted folks:
At issue are not his...proclivities, so long as they're legal.
At issue here are his extremely poor judgment (before and after the act(s)), and his bold-faced lying. Again, there are broader implications when politicians so effectively play constituents for fools.
True, they should never be trusted. But they also must be kept in line and accountable. There must be penalties when their transgressions come to light, lest we enable the pervasive madness of this political system.
"Normal, well-adjusted men don't engage in the loony, deviant, perverted, or nutty behavior that Weiner engaged in."
They don't, or, as The New Yorker's Rick Hertzberg suggested, they just don't get caught?
Is this a generational thing? Do you... know any men? Do you discuss their modern
proclivities with them in our porn-suffused world?
When was the last time you dated an American male?
I'm just asking, because it sounds like you haven't studied or even observed the landscape.
@hilts-
you're a naive person, sorry....the supposed "normal,well-adjusted" men you know probably do stuff like this and more. and sexting doesn't make someone abnormal or not well-adjusted anyway. who are you to make that assessment?
the worse thing he did was lie about it but he had to...the current climate in the media and with people like you forces lying in these situations. he knew the consequences and he had to lie. i would too.
but please look at the big picture and grow up a bit, ok?
Eva,
A married man who emails photos of his genitals to women he met online is a pervert in my book
Normal, well-adjusted men don't engage in the loony, deviant, perverted, or nutty behavior that Weiner engaged in.
Weiner has devolved into a laughingstock and a punchline. I don't care what he's done for the liberal cause. He has to go now.
We don't need another death by a thousand cuts or the drip, drip, drip of further details of Weiner's activities.
Weiner has to put the good of the nation ahead of massive ego
PS to Hilts:
I noticed that you seem really "into" using the word pervert. Is that in itself a perversion?
Anyone got a DSM-IV manual so we can define the obsessive need of Americans to classify pics of one's underwear as a perversion?
Who arbitrates this stuff?
Half the stuff I'd call perverted is not only legal and protected by anti-discrimination laws, but half my guy friends do it. so clearly calling boxer pics perverted is also a subjective assessment.
Hilts at 47
All well and good, but what about the growing class of voters who don't care about other peoples' sex lives - regardless of party? As I wrote, I forgave Sanford (not that his sex life was my business to begin with) so why should I care about Weiner "sexting"?
As long as they serve their constituents, R or D, I don't care. I don't believe that either transgressed the law. And Weiner's a hell of a congressman.
Amazingly, Brian's on vacation when ANOTHER huge story breaks! It's starting to get ridiculous :)
The Truth from Becky,
I am opposed to perverts and sexual deviants holding elective office whether they be liberal democrats or conservative republicans. A pervert is a pervert. I never claimed this is a "democrat" thing. I identified myself as a liberal because I didn't want fellow liberals to mistake me for a conservative when I called for Weiner to resign.
I'm disgusted with this blind allegiance some voters have for politicians who are on their team and are willing to forgive any transgression as long as they are fighting the good fight against the other political party.
I forgave Mark Sanford (hell, I was thrilled Sanford finally fell in love) so no way will I hold this against Tony Weiner.
Hang in there, Tony, and if your Dem colleagues don't support you, we won't support them.
Having said that, you're wrong on the bike lane issue. But it's okay, it'll work out. Eventually.
For the classic analysis of one who does wrong, and when suspicion is aroused, brazenly invites the authorities to hear his dishonest denials, then breaks down and confesses, one can go back to the classic Edgar Allan Poe short story, "The Telltale Heart."
The other thing I'm worried about is that this might lead people to take Breitbart seriously--it's already happening (see some of the comments here!). He's a known liar, & just because he was right this time doesn't mean anything he says should be taken at face value. Remember his NPR "revelations"? First he released a few out-of-context clips, then what he claimed was the full recording. Finally the media got hold of the actual continuous recording & found that it was >2x as long (I think--something like 12 vs. 5 minutes) & he'd spliced different parts together to make it sound bad. Apparently this time he lucked into something he didn't need to fake, but that doesn't make him a "journalist." Whatever he releases next should be checked out thoroughly before anybody gets suckered again.
First, who appointed Andrew Brietbart the Ayatolla of Morality. When did God make this appointment. I missed the memo or didn't get the email.
Second, now that sexuality is going to be legislated, and we are going to force the wearing of the red "A" letter on those judged to be sexual deviants that don't meet the standard, who will appoint themselves to be the setter of the standard.
And last, when we form the new SS of the United States of America in the new Fourth Reich and we round up all those that are deemed to be deviant, who will be Der Fuher?
Have we learned nothing of history?
Katie
anyone below 40 knows that this is common and not their business
For God's sake, he's a politician. What did you expect, honesty?
It's hard to believe that voters would accept him if he hadn't lied.
Having said that...WHY, out of all his apologies, to his wife, constituents, friends and family.....etc. was there was NO apology to the young women, (and men), to whom these pictures were sent?
Having said that....I'm glad he didn't resign. It shows courage. I'm also glad to not have seen his wife by his side like past political wives degrading women by degrading themselves.
Having said that.....in a general note ....American voters need to be more discriminating between...
1. Behavior that is sexual, and maybe even, outside traditional boundaries,
and behavior that is predatory and/or illegal.
2. Behavior that is personally questionable
and behavior that hurts THEIR, the VOTERS', pocketbooks.
What good is it to have a politican with a clean personal life who routinely passes legislation that undermines the middle class?
Americans, see the bigger picture!!!!!
guys, please, he's a Democrat
so we all need to forget about it and move on..nothing to see here...
let's go back to bashing Sarah Palin and blaming Bush and every Republican back to Abraham Lincoln on Obama's failed economy & 3 wars in Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq
Obama lied, people died.
wow people....he didn't break any laws. no one got hurt.
and ladies- just so you know; most men think and act like this, including yours. MOST. sending a lewd foto is not immoral..gimme a break!
you guys and the guests who mistakingly call themselves journalists keep comparing him to people who broke the law. he's not like vitter, spitzer,ensign...why? BECAUSE HE BROKE NO LAWS! LEAVE HIM ALONE AND LIGHTEN UP.
sophia is right
move on
the country is falling apaprt and some care about this?
no one needs to anwser questions about his private life, honestly, don't ask don't tell.
I'm just amazed that people care about this. How boring is your own life that this is all it takes to scandalize you?! I just could not care less what kind of sexual activity my politicians engage in with consenting adults. My guess is that there is a huge age gap on this issue. I can't imagine twenty-something New Yorkers reacting with moral outrage.
Hang tough, Congressman. Your record demonstrates that this activity did not interfere with your ability to do the job.
"Andrew Breitbart does a pretty good job of it"????!!!!! Editing the Shirley Sherrod video to make her seem racist? Editing the Acorn videos so that it brings down a valuable community-oriented organization???
Absurd.
What Weiner's done is stupid stupid stupid, but it's a stupid personal act between consenting adults. How many people haven't pressed the "SEND" button and panicked--and lied--afterward?
I have major disagreements with Anthony Weiner (my dad is a constituent)--except that I support his health care work--but the reaction to this is inane and hopefully will pass.
this is very common by the way. a lot men do it.
People please stop saying he is a "Democrat" as if there are no degenerate Republicans!! Want an example? How 'bout Arnold Schwarzenegger??
The NY media were not just incompetent in this. WNYC and TNYT deliberately refused to investigate the Weiner scandal. Anyone with eyes and ears realized from Weiner’s first news conference that he was hiding something serious.
I think the thing that bothers me most about this whole story is that it gives Breitbart more credibility.
As for Weiner, I have been a huge supporter, and while I'm very disappointed in his stupidity, I really don't think he should step down. As far as politicians lying about sexual misconduct, Weiner falls far below the outrageous standards set by many many others in the past 30 years.
It's all about high school. the ugly nerdy guys grow up, get a little power and with it, finally have a shot (sad commentary on both genders) at the babes they couldn't get when they were age-appropriate. But it comes from a place of thwarted desire festering for years and anger at the imagined source of rejection - thus the gross-out photo, client 9 and going way back - cigars. =
Is it an ethics violation to meet with the press in one's Congressional office to conduct interviews in which one lies, repeatedly?
Prudish America get over it. The lesson to be learned is don't be ashamed of your sexuality and don't lie about it.
All these attacks on Weiner make me want to send him a donation.
People need to accept the fact that the qualities that make someone a successful politician are partly built on the qualities of a "ladies man". I mean I don't see any scrawny bald nerds getting elected to office in this country. Everybody is a tall, thick haired, perfect smile, square jaw, confident manly man, like a cartoon out of a Communist propaganda poster. Then when they get exposed everyone is "shocked, shocked!" they turned out to be a womanizer. Oh, spare me...
hmm, he's a Democrat, a hypocrite, a liar and a pervert....a liberal porgriessive libertine
elect him as President!!
interesting to see the liberal media provide cover for another "progressive" hypocrite
Whether a congressional district is eliminated should not be based on the behavior of the representative. It may be expedient, but it's not fair to the voters.
Actually, I give him until the end of the week--he will resign.
Weiner,
You need to resign asap. I supported you but you lied to us and then tried to cover it up.
We can't trust you any longer. If you stay and by some chance you're elected into a position of higher responsibility, your character flaw may produce a much larger blowback to our society. We can't take that risk anylonger. We need people with strong moral / ethical character. You sir are not one of them.
You're a mensch step down.
Nancy Pelosi says she she will investigate Congressman Weiner's actions.
She should hire investagative journalist Andrew Breitbart - he knows how to speak truth to power and dig up the truth.
Good god I don't care. Is there really no news to cover?
he may have provided so much detail in the press conference as a proactive strategy - knowing, or anticipating that the details ( # of women ages, etc.) will come out eventually
The followers of "Rabbi" Karl Marx have been causing us HUGE problems since 1848, when Marx published the Communist Manifesto. It is time for the Jewish community to repent and JETTISON their liberal bias and understand that Judaism is NOT socialism or liberalism or sexual licentiousness!
Nancy Pelosi says she she will investigate Congressman Weiner's actions.
She should hire investagative journalist Andrew Breitbart - he knows how to speak truth to power and dig up the truth.
This is a dumb thing he did, very dumb. If the House punishes him in some way deservedly but I don't want Anthony Weiner to leave. He certainly represents my politics and fights hard for them and I hope he constituents keep him in office.
Wiener has shown himself to be a tele-sex-obsessed moron, a cold and determined liar, and a weeping narcissist, but what will make it impossible for him to remain in office is that there are apparently other, explicit, fotos of him out there, putting him under the thumb of whomever holds them.
Congressman Weiner is one of the most articulate liberals and this whole situation is unfortunate. He lied, but that's what politicians do in situations like this. I don't think he should resign, but then again, I didn't think Spitzer should have either - and look at his comeback. Stay strong Weiner, and keep your loud progressive voice!
And what about Breitbart? Now he's a savior of people's misdeeds? What a sleazy guy too.
You know the expression, "I can't apologize enough." Well, you can't apologize enough. It's over. Go away.
If Weiner had sent "lewd" photos via Twitter and the recipients were under 18, Weiner could be nailed on sending pornographic materials to children, so-called "sexting". Big trouble. He'll be chilling in jail with John Edwards and DSK. That's why WNYC Democrats should care.
Sorry, what one does behind the scenes eventually spills over to other aspects of life. He has no credibility. He's cooked.
I've liked Weiner. But he's got to go.
He took a pic of his stuff? He sent it to a woman online? For a married man – loose, but maybe not my business.
What's foul is that he exercised horrible self-control and judgment, and REPEATEDLY LIED THRU HIS TEETH to us, BOLD-FACED, even going so far as to be smug, dismissive and even abusive about it, hardly batting an eye. For days. There are broader implications when politicians can so effectively play us for fools with impunity.
A good performance he gave, but no way has he fessed-up willingly: Breitbart has him by the....
And characterizing this as a "personal failing" is in no way indicative of his taking responsibility for the gross public misjudgment.
Yes, he is relatively progressive. But, people, we need to learn how to get progressive policy enacted, REGARDLESS of who's in office, instead of being subject to these (too often) narcissistic, reckless, unaccountable hedonists with way too much power.
(And what about the "experts" who fell in line, blathering about "meta data" and "stolen passwords"? And what of these other age-unknown female recipients of his pervy missives?)
Are we really considering keeping a grown-***, professional, with the privileges of power, who has lied to his constituents and then got caught, above reproach?
JUST MAYBE: The stratosphere is trying to tell us something – with this recent sensational string of revelations of powerful deviance, with Goldman and Citibank and this Great Recession, etc.
We need to put down our iPads and step AWAY from the message boards long enough to get him (and many others) gone, lest the sisters and brothers in the Middle East continue to put us to shame.
As a right-of-center, reformed former Jewish liberal, I am not only embarrassed and disgusted with Wiener, but also that whole slew of mostly left wingers from my tribe who have totally gone off the reservation with their amoral, reprobate and reprehensible ideologies and behaviors, and particularly over the last few years. This is what happens when one goes completely off the reservation and totally forgets or ignores the moral precepts that once characterized the essence of our peoplehood. I feel personally disgraced by this amoral ilk that has become the public face of our "race."
I think it is time to rethink and repent.
I am a demoralized progressive Democratic. Although both parties have their political scandals, the Democrats’ stars seem to explode in the night sky more spectacularly than others. Witness these “progressives”:
- Bill Clinton (Monica)
- Elliott Spitzer (hookers)
- John Edwards (love child; using campaign money to hide it)
- Barney Frank (caught with male prostitutes)
- Charlie Rangel (four rent-controlled apts.; tax evasion)
- William Jefferson (the Louisiana Rep. with cold cash in his frig.)
- Hiram Monserrate (smashing a bottle across his girlfriend’s head)
- Pedro Pasada (basic scam artist)
...and now Weinergate
Don't spend a DIME of public money for this ethics probe. Anthony, do the right thing --- resign NOW!!!
Important issues are swirling around us ... let's stop the distraction of the Congressman's infantile behavior
annnnd I was right...as usual, last week when I said that he was guilty.
I give him seven days--and then it's curtains for him;he will resign.
"not part of a plan"...? I don't want someone who doesn't know what they are doing representing me.
Uh excuse me "Tilts" - this is not a democrat thing..this is a white man or more accurately, white man in power thing!
c'mon, pervert?
did he use campaign funds to send these fotos?
did he break any laws?
the puritanical wiring of the population in this country is astounding.
anthony weiner is a GREAT congressmen and we NEED him in congress. in fact , we need 434 more just like him.
i don't care if he visits a bdsm dungeon every day in his free time, leave him alone. the media loves this garbage because it distracts from the real issues that they are barely covering. journalism is dead.
moyers, please come back?
As a liberal, I'm disgusted by Anthony Weiner's behavior. He's revealed himself to be a pervert and a degenerate. His actions were not illegal, but he's clearly a sick man who needs psychiatric help. I'm fed up with Democrats who want to write this incident off as no big deal. Weiner disgraced his party, his district, and the Congress. He needs to resign because he's become a laughingstock and has no credibility to advance the liberal agenda.
Weiner's supporters should stop confusing the words LIBERAL and LIBERTINE. I've had it with politicians who can't control their raging hormones. Congress needs to be a pervert free zone.
