Carolina Chocolate Drops, 'Boodle De Bum Bum,' Live on Soundcheck

When Carolina Chocolate Drops was formed, it was partially to keep alive the black string band tradition.
Dom Flemons, who sings and plays snare and banjo, says, "A lot of people tend to think that just because you play old songs that means it has to be old just like it was way back in time, to contemporize it only means you can play that old music. You can do whatever you want to as long as you keep within the vocabulary and sound that you learned."
"Boodle De Bum Bum" is a song Flemons heard in a recording by Ben Curry. Curry is also known as Bogus Ben Covington because he often pretended to be blind while busking on the street. Watch the video for the song below.
