Tuesday, April 05, 2011

Jesse Harris
“Little Star”
Playing Tuesday at Le Poisson Rouge
(158 Bleecker St., Greenwich Village)
Get: Tickets ($15) | Directions

Jesse Harris first made serious waves as a guitarist and composer for Norah Jones, penning her hit “Don’t Know Why” and winning a Grammy in the "Song of the Year" category for it back in 2002. It’s no surprise that his solo work evokes those same laid-back summertime feelings that made Norah Jones a sensation. Harris has released ten albums full of deceptively simple, jazzy love songs, including a 2010 album recorded in the Bahamas titled Through The Night. This track, however, comes from an instrumental album titled Cosmo, and it strikes home with an unabashed sentimentalism characteristic of Harris’ work.
