Scene: Brooklyn is a film festival exclusively devoted to Brooklyn filmmakers.

Our highlights:

• The festival is hosting the New York premiere of Strange Powers: Stephin Merritt and The Magnetic Fields. The documentary  follows the songwriter on tour and in the recording studio, portraying him in all his notoriously grouchy glory.

• The 26-year-old filmmaker Ray Tintori is hosting his own retrospective. On Thursday, May 13,  'A Premature Retrospective'  will feature clips from his acclaimed short films, and the music videos he's made for his Brooklyn buddies MGMT, Chairlift, and Cool Kids.

Here's his short film, Jettison Your Loved Ones -- a mockumentary of a man looking to the sea for escape. Over...and over....and over again. And the children he left behind.

•  The Electric Picture Show at BAM on May 12 is running 13 animated films in one night. 

The film Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No celebrates what's quite possibly the greatest athletic achievement of all time. This lucid short tells the tale of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis and his psychedelic 1970 no-hitter against the San Diego Padres.
