Art, Murder and Mystery on the Lower East Side

Nine galleries in the Lower East side were inspired by an unlikely source: a murder mystery. The novel, Richard Price's "Lush Life," is set in the Lower East side and has nine chapters, each of which have been interpreted by one of the galleries participating in the nine-part exhibit. You can see many of the chapters and a lot more at tonight's Lower East Side artwalk.
Organized by Artlog, the crawl takes place in over twenty Lower East side galleries. It's not just "Lush Life" you'll see- there's an exhibit of camo-inspired oil paintings, and a show of abstract sculptures made from painstakingly cut paper.
Check-in for the crawl begins at 6:30 at the New Museum, where you can see the mind-altering "Dream Machine." A $20 ticket includes free admission to the New Museum and two post-crawl parties.
