The Bizarre And Cuddly Bookends Of Kathryn Harrison
Thursday, April 08, 2010
Writer Kathryn Harrison keeps some of her most prized possessions on her bookcase. Aside from novels, one can find miscellaneous trinkets from family members to a fetal pig in a glass jar. (Um, one man's bookend is another man's fetal pig?)
Harrison, the author of While They Slept: An Inquiry into the Murder of a Family, recently gave StackedUp.TV a tour of her personal library. Everything gets "culled carefully because if you want to put one in, something else has to go out," says Harrison.
While classic 19th century lit like David Copperfield and Madame Bovary pack the shelves, Harrison hides most of her Jack the Ripper and true crime books under various pieces of furniture.
Check out the video for more. Extra bonus: Harrison teaches us how to hypnotize a fluffy bunny.
