On Thursday, November 4 , the WNYC Young People's Radio Choir returns to WNYC New York Public Radio ®'s Soundcheck for the first of four broadcasts this season. Choir director and founder Francisco Núñez will be joined by 16 choristers for a program in which they will share the music and their memories of their many summer adventures. Those adventures included winning two gold medals at the 2004 Choir Olympics in Bremen, Germany, and representing the City of New York on three significant occasions: the dedication of the Freedom Tower and the 9/11 commemorations at Ground Zero and the reopening of the Statue of Liberty. The chorus will also share what's ahead this season by doing what they are particularly noted for: singing a new composition by one of today's most distinguished composers, Judith Weir.
The WNYC Young People's Radio Chorus will return to Soundcheck three more times this season: in February, April, and June. Study guides for teachers wishing to incorporate subjects from the programs into their curricula will be available for downloading several days prior to each broadcast from the website of Young People's Chorus of New York City at www.ypc.org or by calling WNYC's Listener Services Team at 212-669-3333. Following the broadcasts, these editions of Soundcheck will continue to be available at
