New York Public Radio has suspended our internship program for the September 2023-May 2024 session. We hope to reinstate it soon. 

However, we are continuing to welcome interns through partnerships with select universities and organizations.

NYPR internships are designed to be a learning experience for sharp, enthusiastic self-starters, with or without radio skills. Our interns do meaningful work across a variety of shows and departments, are an integral part of the team, and assist with all aspects of work. Over the course of the internship term, interns can learn a variety of skills, including reporting, editing, production, field recording, digital audio editing, taping, Pro Tools, mixing promos, planning live events, research, and more. 

Who Should Apply For Our Internships?

Any student (undergraduate or graduate) or person who has graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship period to which they are applying.

In order to be eligible, you must be authorized to work in the United States and must be working from one of the following locations while working for NYPR: CA, CO, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, PA, RI, VA, WI, Washington DC. 

Internship Details

  • Interns selected for the Fall/Spring sessions are expected to work part-time (15 hours per week)
  • Summer interns are expected to work full time (35 hours per week)
  • All NYPR interns are paid $17.50 per hour 
  • Interns may also receive academic credit as part of our program
  • NYPR does not offer transportation or housing assistance.
